You may have to get shredded tissue paper or raffia. This is to put at the bottom of the basket to add a little filler instead of adding things that may not be needed just to fill it up. If you do not want to do this you can also get one or two bigger items to put in the basket. Another thing you could do is put some gifts in a baby bag, a baby bath tub or even a baby carrier. This would be a very cute way of giving a very useful and somewhat more expensive gift. You can then continue the theme by adding practical cleaning and baby care items. These types of gifts are sometimes overlooked because they are not cutesy or fluffy, but the new mother will be very grateful for these items when the need arises.
2. Take into consideration the baby’s gender and what the baby really needs. If it is the first baby born to this mom then it will need many more things then if it were not the first. If it is not the oldest it may have many ‘hand me down’ items from the other children.
3. You should consider having a theme. Such as a certain color like pink for a girl, blue for a boy, or a character such as Winnie the Pooh, Butterflies or even a sleepy-time theme. This could include CDs, blankets, pillows, pajamas, or stuffed animals.
Giving a gift at a baby shower is the right thing to do. Giving a baby shower gift basket will show more than how good you are at doing the right thing, but how much you love the mom and the new baby.
